Hello September!

Our first month of school has been fabulous.  The students are adjusting to their schedule and learning the new routines. We finished up August with The Little Red Hen and cooking biscuits with Mrs. Sproat’s class.  The students were such great helpers rolling out the dough and cutting the circles for the biscuits. They loved playing with the flour and dough and using their fine motor skills.

This month we will begin The Big Red Barn and end with Charlotte’s Web. We will be learning about animals and map skills throughout the month. Our core vocabulary word for the month is GO. We can’t wait to learn all about the items in the classroom that we can make go using our AT switches.

Have a wonderful Labor Day and we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday, September 4th!

End of Week 4

We had another fabulous week in Pod A.  We wrapped up our first cross-curricular unit with happy vs sad and The Feelings Book by Todd Parr. We recorded our emotions each day and the graph chart came home on Friday. The kids loved making their emotions face plates and decorating their happy cookies on Friday with our friends from Mrs. Sproat’s class!

Next week we begin our  unit on Animals and Map Skills. We will read The Little Red Hen and begin talking about our favorite animals. Our core vocabulary word for the unit is go. We are going to have so much fun activating all our AT devices to make things go!

Reminder for the upcoming week 8-27 through 8-31:

  • Picture Day will be Wednesday, Aug. 29th. Every child will have their picture taken. It will be used in the yearbook. Picture packages are available for your purchase. Please return all picture package envelopes by Wednesday.

Have a fabulous weekend! 🙂

Happy Friday!

We had such a fun week in Pod A! We are all settling in and getting adjusted to being back at school.  Our rules and routines have been established and the students are really responding to the routine in our classroom. Please note the Cross Curricular Units that came home in their folders this week and posted on the blog.

Our students loved our new book The Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books.  We have enjoyed matching healthy foods on our plate and talking about our senses and emotions in Speech this week.  We also had our first cooking lesson this week! They loved the marshmallow salad “ambrosia” that we made. Check their folders for the recipe. It is super fun and easy to make!

Have a great weekend! 🙂
