We are reading “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. We are having so much fun counting, sequencing and learning all about the metamorphosis of a butterfly.

We are continuing to work on our core words eat and drink this month. Please keep working on these words at home. The more our students are encouraged to ask what they want the more proficient they will become in communicating their wants and needs.

We had so much fun on our CBI trip to Publix. The students loved getting out in the community with their class!  We did a scavenger hunt to find all the items on our list. The students enjoyed finding the items and putting them in the cart. They did a great job saying “hello”, “thank you”, and “good bye” with our voice activated buttons. We are so happy we could finally go on our trip!

This past week we started a new unit on healthy eating. We have been discussing what food groups we should be eating and trying to stay away from too many sweets and junk food.

We also began reading “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” by Laura Numeroff . We love this story and the students have enjoyed pressing our voice activated button for the pig during read aloud time. They have also enjoyed activating our pig toy with the switch and playing with our pig hand puppet.  We have been busy graphing how many students like pancakes and counting and matching the number of pancakes on our plate.

Report cards and progress reports went home on Friday. Please return the signed report card envelope and  school registration form in the manila envelope by Monday, March 25th.

Wednesday, March 27th is picture day. Please send in picture forms and money on Wednesday. If you would like your student to wear a special shirt please send it in and we can put it on for pictures and take it off after.

Week of December 17, 2018

This week is a going to be a fun filled week in Pod A. We are busy wrapping up our unit for December. We are reading Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett and discussing Holidays around the world.

Our CBI trip was cancelled due to the delayed start of school last Tuesday. We are rescheduling it for the month of January and will send home permission forms again after break.

Our class would like to invite parents and family to come in this week to be a mystery reader. The students love seeing their family in the classroom and it is even better when it is a surprise!  You may bring in one of your favorite holiday books to read to the class and a small treat if you would like. This will take the place of a class winter party as we have limited space in our classroom and it can be overwhelming having a lot of people in our class at once.
