I am a Chicago, Illinois native, who moved to Marietta in 1996 with my husband Brian, when he began working at the Coca Cola Company. At that time, I was a stay-at-home mom and an active member of the Cheatham Hill PTA. I especially enjoyed helping in the library and working as a reading tutor. When my children moved on to middle school and high school, I returned to school, where I received a second bachelors degree in early childhood education at Kennesaw State University. I became a first grade teacher at Cheatham Hill in 2005 and have been teaching first grade ever since! I have continued my journey as a life-long learner by earning a Masters Degree in Reading and Mathematics instruction and my ESOL certification.
In my free time, I love to read, travel, and walk my dogs (if you keep your eyes open, you will see me walking around the neighborhoods near Cheatham Hill)! My husband and I also love to visit our two grown children: our son Matthew (a UGA graduate) is now a middle school science teacher in Sacramento, California, and our daughter Rebecca (an Auburn graduate) is involved in animal education at Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
